January 25, 2010, Seattle, WA -- Last fall, a rogue DEA agent in the Seattle office went around to most indoor gardening stores in the area and demanded that they remove from their shelves all products from the company Advanced Nutrients, as well as all charcoal filters. It seems the agent was offended by a large banner the company flew over Seattle Hempfest that read "Want big, sugary buds?"

In response to the threats issued personally by this rogue agent, nearly every store in the area stopped carrying Advanced Nutrients products and charcoal filters. It is unclear why the agent went after charcoal filters, which are used to scrub the air of smell and particulates, but we think it may have to do with more marijuana smell leading to more marijuana busts.

The Cannabis Defense Coalition intends to sell charcoal filters and other indoor gardening products to medical marijuana patients and designated providers. United States Attorney General Eric Holder has stated that the federal government will not go after patients and providers that are complying with state medical marijuana laws. Threats issued by a rogue agent may scare traditional profit-based businesses that sell to the general public, but threats issued to a nonprofit selling grow equipment to patients under state law would be out of line with the mandate of Attorney General Holder, the DEA's boss.
